History

Established 1978

Current Electrical Co. began as a full-service electrical contractor with a vision to become a trusted name in the electrical construction industry. Now with more than four decades of experience and growth, Current Electrical champions its lasting relationships with clients and ability to evolve along with an ever-changing construction market.

Craig Cooper and Mark Bolley founded Current Electrical in October of 1978. Three years later, Craig bought out Mark’s portion of the business and oversaw full operations while Mark continued working at Current Electrical until his retirement in 2007.

Family Business

Current Electrical is the true meaning of a family business, as Craig’s sons have both enjoyed careers at the business. Cory Cooper worked at Current Electrical until 1997 when he passed away from cancer at age 25. Today, Dan Cooper leads Current Electrical as president, having purchased the company from his parents in 2016. Dan attended Kansas University and graduated in 2003 from NE Kansas Trade School in Electrical as a licensed electrician. He worked in the field until 2007 when he transitioned to learning the business of being a contractor as well as an electrician.

Each electrical construction project brings challenges for the Current Electrical team to overcome. To date, the largest electrical construction job involved relocating SBG headquarters from downtown Topeka to its new home at I-70 and Wanamaker, a complex project that cost approximately $8 million.

Current Electrical continues to expand its services by hiring qualified team members who push the company forward.
